any fishermen here?

Nice pics, indeed! They just reinforce something that I read years ago. "Trout are a whole lot prettier than they need to be."

Those of you who have gone on professionally guided fishing trips (the week-long type), what do you tip your guides at the end of each day?

My son and I went for some early crappie fishing today. Caught half dozen keepers and this female. She was full of eggs, so she went back in the water. Easily 16". For reference, my son is 6'5 with large hands to go with his size.

That is a tank

Bass fisherman here in Virginia. I have two big assorted bins full of "kits" and I make my own lures! Costs pennies on the dollar compared to Bass Pro, Cabela's, etc... Been making my own lures since I was a teenager in the 70's up in the Adirondack Mtns of northern New York!

I am almost 100% positive fish are extinct.

Sadly, this is partially true, on the funny side, I get it! 😂 I often went home with a doughnut - 0! But it’s also made fishing not as enjoyable here in Kentucky, knowing that the Kentucky Game & Fish have to stock most of the ponds and streams with Fish hatchery raised fish.

This knowledge took the fun out of it for me, the old “shooting fish in a barrel” adage creeps in...add to that seeing the folks that would take baskets of those stocked not too big catfish out to eat, just killed my catch and release spark, not sure which I felt sorry for the most, the fish, or those that appear to need to eat them...my wife and I haven’t fished for the past few years as a result of what we saw...

I have a garage full of vintage Fenwick rods, spinning and fly-rods, that much like my Pings a couple of years ago, stand there reminding me of some great fishing times gone by! 👍

Very nice:) Unfortunately my favorite lake for spring time Crappies, froze out this winter. DNR had an airiator but it it was perhaps to late. Dead fish floating all around the lake. Hopefully it killed all the carp also.

I know I never do!

Easily the worst part about moving from Michigan to Ohio. Trout are much less accessible here.
No, the worst part is….. Ohio.

I'll never understand the carp hate. Give me a 20lb+ fighting machine over a 1lb insert fish.

Staring at a new 9" fillet knife to go along with my fishing trip this summer. Seems unnecessary but necessary.

That's a nice crappie. The most fun I've had fishing was fishing for crappies with a light fly rod setup. It was a blast.

You can't be from Minnesota and not have fished. I grew up fishing with my dad. Had some great times. I gave up fishing in my late teens or early 20's.
I don't like the taste of fish and decided why catch them if I'm not going to eat them. To this day I don't like any seafood, shrimp and lobster included.

Correction:

You can't be from UPSTATE NEW YORK and not fished. This photo is actually *ME* back around 1970/1971 at Lake George, NY in the Adirondack Mtns. I don't know who was more proud... Me or my dad, because it was ME who caught the fish that afternoon for dinner, and not him! (1) Smallmouth bass (2) Perch (one is behind the other).

Get a load of the old, Johnson Seahorse 5½hp outboard, and aluminum Grumman fishing boat.

what type of lures do you make?

Inline spinners and crankbaits. So much fun to make!

Thanks... I make a few skirted spinnerbaits too. The coolest thing was making the exact duplicate of my original 1977 Mepps Aglia #1 but a hair larger, and it cost me about $1.75 to make! LOL...

I am out chasing some trout on the fly for a couple of days. I was on the Green River today. Good times!
