A proper Wisconsin Old Fashioned:

Rocks glass, sugar the bottom.

Add a cherry and orange slice.
Douse with bitters. And now that you think you used enough bitters, do it again. You need a few more dashes there, bud.
Muddle well, just don't crush the orange peel.

Add 1.5 oz of brandy. And then a splash more for good measure. Korbel is traditional, but it's very sweet and there's enough sweetness in there already. I prefer a dry brandy and Press House from Wollersheim (a local winery) is unmatched. Stir vigorously.

6-8 ice cubes topped with soda.
Sweet = 7up, Sour = Squirt, Press = half each.
It will foam if you added enough bitters.

Garnish with orange slice and cherries.
My grandpa would garnish with pickled brussel sprouts for salty balance, but, nah.

Enjoy!

I’m one of those rare people who really likes Malört, and I love Negronis, so I decided I wanted to try my hand at inventing a Malört-based Negroni.

Witness the Malöni. I must say, I really liked it and my wife, who does not like Malört, liked it as well. I think it’s gorgeous o\in the glass.

1.5 London Dry Gin
1.0 Cocchi Americano
.5 Malört, though I may try increasing it a bit
2 dashes grapefruit bitters

Stir over ice, pour over large cube. I may garnish with a grapefruit twist when I think to get some grapefruit.

Going to be working on mixing rates of this drink later. What do you guys think. 1:1 ration Jim Beam to ginger ale. IMG_8661.png

I'd start with a shot (1.5oz) of the Beam Apple and add at least 4oz of ginger ale, but probably more like 6oz especially if you add the Fireball.

For after our Christmas Eve lamb loin bone-in roast dinner tonight, to be enjoyed with a good Padron cigar.

Made one of these tonight and had to say it was pretty good!

Made a few grapefruit raddlers over the holiday, used blue moon as the beer and they were refreshing

Made a Lion’s Tail the other day after discussing Disney cocktails on another server. General consensus was that the Tempting Tigress, which is served at Nomad Lounge in Animal Kingdom, is a riff on the Lion’s Tail.

  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce allspice dram
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
I ended up adjusting the lime back a smidge and adding .5 oz. more of bourbon by the third one. That put it where I wanted it.

Let’s bump this thing up!

Keeping it simple tonight. Aviation for the Mrs., Dark ‘n’ Stormy for me

Anyone had any luck with "Masters" themed cocktails? We will be having a Masters Saturday party this year and I'm wanting to try some stuff out
