Only thing missing on that hole is the Windmill to put thru...Here’s the large swale that bisects the middle of the Biarritz par 3 11th hole at my home club. The pictures don’t do the depth or steepness justice - the slope is 10-14% and it’s over 3 feet deep.
They pin position was in the front yesterday making it play only 182 yards but a back flag can push the yardage to 235 yards from the 6,400 yard tees. It was soft after morning rain and my ball stopped just sort of the swale. I’ve putted from or through that swale 3 out of the last 4 times I’ve played the hole so it was a treat to have a normal first putt.

My son hitting his second shot on the par 5 7th hole at Whaling City Golf Course in New Bedford MA.
Have never seen one (or heard) of those that I can recall. Seems like it could serve a purpose as a drainage swale but also seems a little "tricked" out. Still a pretty neat feature and backstory. One Biarritz hole is a common feature on any CB McDonald or Seth Raynor course. This course, Minnesota Valley CC, is a Seth Raynor design from 1924.Know Your Golf Course Terms: The Biarritz Green
