I wanted to share a thanks and shout out to the folks over at Titleist. I’ve had fun being a part of Team Titleist through their discussion board and prototype ball testing (and just saw the article about protoypes going to retail -- very interesting). Last week I got a surprise email inviting me to a short game experience with the team from Wedgecraft. Too good to pass up!

The event was at the Manchester Lane Test Facility. It’s an amazing facility, and we had a brief tour that included seeing the ball testing robot. Someone was getting a full fitting there as well — that'll need to be an experience for another time. It’s an amazing facility that’s maintained with a painstaking level of care. No variable goes overlooked and it gave a good appreciation into what goes into product design there.

I hadn’t heard of Wedgecraft before. Doc and Layne walked us through their data driven approach to the short game, then we all got 1:1 time with one of them to assess our finesse wedge game. After I chunked multiple chips, Doc made simple changes that helped immediately, and followed up by email with a video of my swing with his commentary. I've got some serious practice to do...

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention and say thanks for the swag bag. A seriously generous collection of TT gear and equipment.

My only regret is that I didn’t take photos! I’m not sure it would’ve captured it, but sorry to not have some green to show!

Sounds like fun. next time definitely take photos. If you are a Titleist fan, we have something really cool coming up with them that you are going to want to follow along with when it takes place, because there will be prizes/swag for THPers :D

Thanks, JB! I'm definitely looking forward to following that one! Saw the T-Series while we were there. Good looking irons.

Sounds like you had a much better time of this than I did at the spring event at Pinehurst.

Glad to hear it!

Ah, bummer you didn't have a good experience, Millsan. At least you were at Pinehurst? Can't go wrong being there!

Got a few photos from the Titleist guys to remember the event. Posting them here! Doesn't do justice to the facility, but does hint at some of the flaws in my short game we were trying to fix!

Next time send me a message and I will pass you some drinks. I live on the other side of the fence.

They sent an SM7 as well! Trying a new approach. Dropped the 54 and 60 and going with a 56S. Also went from S200 to a PX 5.5 to match my irons. One round out but I like it so far! Much better out of bunkers that my 60, and even pulled off a couple of flops no prob with the S grind. So much fun to tinker with all these variables. 5463CCB8-1590-468B-BE84-7D9D18122D4A.jpeg
