Is this the Tiger Issues thread or the Ryder Cup thread? Wow. Maybe we should blame the cops for giving Rors an escort - heck, the cops were responsible for that one point that would have turned the entire tournament! That's the ticket!
In a team sport when one of your players doesn't show up with his or her best, the rest of the team has to step up and perform. On Sunday, the US TEAM didn't do it.
Give props were they are deserved: In singles, the Euro Team stepped up, grabbed big Mo and rode that bi**h until the final putt.
We should cheer both sides for a tremendous couple days and be thrilled that such an event will be dropping over $2 million into charities (golf related and otherwise) around the greater Chicagoland area.
I'm looking forward to 2014 already.
I think some of the Euro's are already drunk in the presser. They are hilarious hurry up and get this over so they can party.
Who won the shafts. Congrats!
My thoughts exactly. The new Cappy will need to find or grow a motivator like Poulter is to the Euro's. I thought Fowler might be that guy but didn't make the team this year. I sure was impressed by his Presidents and previous Ryder cup play though.I cringe to think what is going to happen in two years when we have to play on their turf on a course that they have set up for them.
Bubba is not a good match play player. You are right. But frankly none of the US guys are. When you are on a course set up for your style of play and you get hammered like we got hammered today, there is much going wrong at the same time I think. We have always insisted on playing these things the way we want to play them, making few if any concessions to the format. Your comment about the quality of the European player is another accurate observation. We can no longer just rely on the general strength of our team in these things. Either we improve the areas where we are weak or I think we will fail more because they have certainly improved in the areas where they are weak. I cringe to think what is going to happen in two years when we have to play on their turf on a course that they have set up for them.
I am behind the rest of the world, but holy crap! The Americans just sucked it up big time! You know who should be the most upset men in America? Hunter Mahan and BVP. Sticker played like crap all weekend long and Furyk wasn't much better. Pretty disappointing from those two.
Or relieved, Hunter was there last time and hindsight being 20/20 who would want to be on the squad? If I were either I'd be glad I wasn't picked. You know who should be the most upset men in America? Hunter Mahan and BVP.
Poulter is without question the best match play player in the world. I am not sure if there is anybody that has taken the second spot away but for years I thought Luke was the second best match play player in the world. He might still be for that matter. I think Gmac is a very good match play player but he was one of three guys I thought was just exhausted this week and played very tired golf. Not sure Gmac would have done well this week regardless of format. Sergio is very good match play player. I can't think of a single US player currently on the tour that is as good at match play as those four guys.
That Dufner guy was pretty good this week.
