Official THP 2011 Golf Outing & Demo Day

I know I haven't been around here that long but this seems like a great opportunity for my wife and I to celebrate our 10 year anniversary 5/26 just have to make sure all of the details will work.

That is an excellent idea!

This would be awesome to go to I'm sure, but it is the weekend before final exams. So even if I could get my dad to come with me I couldn't come. Have fun though.

Here's my little plug based on my last experience.

Immediately upon pulling up to the resort you were greeted by someone from PGA National, the guy who helped me refused to let me touch my luggage and took care of everything, he was super nice and we chatted a bit about the weather, the course conditions, all sorts of stuff. He takes me inside and I immediately see Josh, Morgan, Hawk, Kelly and Bill (Ol Gray) and I b-lined over to finally meet these people, the guy was standing there like wtf, but he took all my bags to the counter and told me to take my time. Eventually I got checked in but I immediately ran to JB and GG's room as they had a box of goodies (Burner 2.0 irons) for me, I just left all my stuff by the front desk and bolted for the new goods. I was shocked when I finally made it to my room thinking I was going to drop the Burners and run and get my bags, there they sat in my room already! So immediately my first impression of this place was awesome. I bolted down to the Pro Shop to go play 9 with Gray, Kelly, and Hawk, the staff at the Pro Shop was SO nice and great to work with I was just amazed. This began was was a trend all weekend long, everywhere you went you were greeted by the nicest staff I've seen anywhere. Everyone was so willing to help and eager to make our trip the best it could be, these people at PGA National just get it, they know we're all spending good money to go there and they are as nice and helpful as you could possibly be. Being part of the THP staff I was involved in helping setup the demo each day and these guys at PGA National were more than willing to help with everything, they were lugging heavy staff bags and boxes of clubs and all the while all these guys were just eating up all the sweet equipment we had, one day we "caught" a couple guys gawking at putters when we showed up to start getting ready for the demo, it was pretty funny. These guys loved what they were doing and helped us so much it was great.

THP staff and members. I had met a handful of THP'ers before this outing and each time I've been super impressed with how cool and friendly everyone was, sure we're all friends and all but in reality you never really know who's on the other end of a computer when you're going to meet people you met on the internet. As I said, immediately upon getting to PGA National I ran into Josh, Morgan, Hawk, Gray and Kelly at the iBar...I've talked to both Josh and Morgan a lot regarding business such as reviews, radio shows, articles, all THP business type things. Each time it's been friendly and cordial but mainly all business so I never really "knew" them beyond that, I was pleasantly surprised with how funny and awesome they both were. I am continually in awe of JB's infectious enthusiasm for what he does and every time I talk to him I am ready to conquer the world, he just has that affect on people. After scoring the Burners and getting ready for our round I meet up again with Gray, KellyBo, and Hawk, what a awesome group of people. As long as I live I'll never in my life meet a person nicer than Ol Gray, I know this for a fact! I know another thing, if Hawk lived in my town we'd hang out a lot, he's awesome. KellyBo is the best too, she loves golf and it shows, her and Gray have to be the nicest couple on earth....amazing people. So this was my initial reaction to the first group of people I meet and all weekend long I was in stitches as I met and spent time with more members, from the hilarious antics of the brothers Calloway to the absolute golf nuts like OEM Kevin and the rest of the gang I could not get enough of everyone! I just wish it was a week instead of a weekend!

Ok, I know we already have a thread for the fall outing concluding so I'm not trying to rehash all that, I'm just simply pointing out that between the resort beauty, the resort staff, and the amenities, there is not a better place to hold the THP outings and I hope this is the beginning of a long term relationship. The other reason for this post is to tell everyone that the people you'll be hanging out with are so awesome it will blow you away. Everyone that I've met on THP will forever be my friends now, I know it's easy to say but I genuinely mean that. If you're on the fence on this trip take what I have just said and double it because it's even better than I'm able to express here, you cannot believe how much golf is around you, from the second you get to the resort to the second you leave you're in your golf shoes and ready for a game, hands down the best golf weekend you will ever have!

P4B and Hawk are the kind of guys you meet and never forget. Not unlike my brothers I came to know in Vietnam. You received good vibes from the start and knew they had your back. It's funny, and some may think it quite odd, however you meet these people online and bam, friends forever. It's something about THP. Everybody I have met on this site are geniune, good folks, and the kind of friends you call family. Trust me, if you come to the spring outing, you will leave with a new family in your heart. JB & GG are a tremendous asset to the golfing industry and there are no finer folks around, to run a first class golf forum. You got to come see for yourselves. Feel the passion these folks put into their love for people, golf, and a great time had by all! See you all at the next THP outing!

I told the wife about your fall outing you had and looked like you all had a good time , and she's been wanting to go somewhere for our 20 year anniversary next year , so this might be a neat thing to do .
She doesn't play , but I know she sure has been eying all the SPA stuff available ...... LOL
Another thing , Do you need to bring your own sticks or will we be able to play rounds with the equipment you have for testing ?

awesome post old buddy! i think you really made some excellent points. the fact is, once you make one of these things, you just don't want to miss another one. dayum, i'm getting all emotional.

You would have to bring your own clubs. Or you could rent clubs from the resort (they have nice rentals)

We loan out some clubs, but may not have enough full sets to go around.

ok thanks JB , I have a hard case but its almost 20 years old and dont know if an oversize driver will even fit !
I guess I need to dig it out of the closet and check :D

Well i have waited for a reason to come to Florida. I am soooo jealous all the equipment you guys to get play with.. Me being from Ohio - i havent even seen a miyazaki shaft yet - and ive looked! Well i showed the add on the home page to my girlfriend and WERE COMING!!!

I cannot wait to try some shafts configs out - and maybe try those new burner irons. Im seriously feeling like xmas right now and 12 years old hahaha. Cant wait to see ya all there.

Great stuff, welcome aboard dude! I'm still working on my wife, she's also not a golfer but will love that pool and she's all about a spa while I golf.

Glad to see you will make it computergeek13 I look forward to seeing you in Florida in May!

I know this is way to early to ask. But anyone thinking of playing 36 holes 1 of those days?

I just convinced the gf we were staying at a resort- if I can find things to keep her busy for a second round I'm def in. Haha. I play my best golf after a warmup 18. I CANNOT wait to play these courses. This is gonna be a sick weekend.

so here's a question:

we decided to change the tee times to the am on saturday and sunday. that way folks who need to travel on sunday can leave a little earlier, and b/c we thought that some may want to replay. who's planning on replaying after their rounds?
Im flying in from Ohio- so i'm going to play as much golf as I can- not sure u want me on ur team I can shoot a 108 and an 85 in the sane day!! But I haven't got to flight info yet- we might fly out sun pm or moon am.. Depends on gf vacation schedule- I write my own schedule so no worries there.

well, it'll be a fun, relaxing way for more of us to play together. i think a captains choice format can make everyone relaxed, and hopefully there will be more birdies.

who knows, maybe we can actually make this into something big!

What is a captains choice format btw?

great news! another THP outing first timer. we're gonna do something a little different for this outing so that everyone gets time on the launch monitor and we'll make sure that we get you fit into the perfect miyazaki shaft.

i'm glad you are down for the extra golf and the festivities. it's going to be a blast.

same thing as a scramble. we'll have teams of 3-4 (depending on how many want to play). everyone tees off, then as a group you decide which tee shot you want to play, then you all go and hit your approach shots from there. you follow this format until the ball is in the hole. it's fun and it should allow for some birdies to be had on the golf course.

i'm glad you are gonna make it. this is great news!

This sounds like Liz. She won't golf, but the spa will be a huge hit with her if I can get her there, plus it will allow me time to play more golf, haha.

I plan to play as much golf as humanly possible while there, so an early tee time with a little more time in between rounds would help a ton on these feet, lol.

Awesome to see so many new people.

Out of curiosity, is it ok we wait a little bit before putting a deposit down? I'm weighing options as far as flights in, roomates.. etc.

Glad your coming computergeek!! You won't be disappointed!!

I suppose I can make it again.....:act-up:

I'm working HARD on this one gents, big time.

The wife is in med-school though and that could prove to write her out of it, I hope not though.

I just really want to finally get to meet y'all in person, that ranks way above the demo day for me personally.
