All of these clothing threads.....I figure it must be asked. Obviously i'm not talking about weddings here where there is a pretty formal code of how to dress

But i mean like , a nice dinner out....or you're called into your corporate office for a presentation to managers, or any other kind of somewhat formal event where you can kind of choose your own adventure

What do you go with?

Like, are you a suit guy? Are you a jacket with a t-shirt under guy? Do you hate jackets alltogether?

Do you wear jackets with jeans? Do you wear collars?

Whats your deal.

Tell me ASAP

I'm not very fancy. I wear jeans and a polo. I am a sneaker head though.

I am the what is the least fancy attire can I get away with and not be the biggest asshole in the room at this event and that is what I will wear.

Those situations I'm wearing a suit probably, but I don't encounter those situations almost ever, so I'm in shorts and a t-shirt 99% of the time I'm not at work (polo and slacks there usually).

Khakis and a polo guy. Don’t even own a jacket, haven’t in years.

I've kinda developed a style that is equal parts "screw off" and equal parts kinda fancy.

Basically i wear jeans, a nice jacket, and a novelty t-shirt. And that is my style

I did a talk at my old company wearing a "pollos hermanos" breaking bad shirt with a blazer.

This is comfortably my style now

I have a really important interview coming up. I will wear a suit to that.

Not at all since I retired 17 years ago.

We were just talking about this year being the first 12 month period I didn't wear long pants.

These days its cargo shorts, a tee shirt, socks, and tennis shoes most of the time.

I do wear collared shirts to play golf. However practices are a different story .

For a more formal occasion, I'll probably go sportcoat, button down and slacks rather than suit. For a dinner, unless the restaurant has a dress code, I'm probably going in jeans/chinos and tailor the shirt according to restaurant atmosphere (tshirt vs. polo vs. button down).

Was jeans/polo/cowboy boots the past few years. Dress it up for a specific occasion with a dress shirt and jacket - still jeans usually lol

Started going more casual... now I'm more likely to wear a polo, some sort of golf pant, and some casual shoes. Still have the jackets, and a suit or two if they are needed.

We have a very loose dress code at work. A 1/4 zip, polo, and jeans is basically dressed up there. That is what I tend to wear.

No suit for dinner though, just jeans and a button up shirt if it's nice'ish.

I did not expect Thrillbilly Jim to bust out suits. Internet stereotyping at it's finest

Dressing up for me is wearing a polo instead of a T-shirt.

At work I’m a pants and polo guy.

For presentations I have a couple of jackets hanging in my office that I will throw on.

For Director in Duty when I’m the face of the casino till 2:30 am I’m usually wear in full suit and tie

I'm a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

Pants and a polo. If I have to wear a tie, I’ll do it.. but imma b*tch the entire time

This is kind of where i've settled...."Fancy" for me now is a tshirt with a jacket as mentioned. But day to day business is just a polo with khakis.

I've been fortunate enough to meet with some very brilliant people, designers of some of the most important systems we use today.....and some of these guys wear Joggers and Tshirts to the meetings . I often joke i have to look just a BIT better since they are so much smarter haha

My last company , i believe to this day that i was responsible for the "Tie" mandate to be dropped. I refused to wear a tie, and when HR told me i had to "set a better example"....i bought a Piano Key Necktie and wore that everyday.

Eventually people complained about the Piano Key tie. And then the Tie mandate was dropped alltogether.

The kids there today have no idea how i suffered for them. So that one day they could wear a collared shirt with no tie

I’d estimate more than 99.99% of the time I’m in golf slacks and a polo at work. Casual or dressy, that’s what I’m wearing.

I dress nicer for the golf course than I do for anywhere else.

I own one sport coat, haven't worn it for at least 7 years but I keep it around just in case I need it. If I'm not on the golf course, I'm always in either jeans or shorts, a t-shirt or tank top, and sneakers or flip-flops (depending on whether it's cold or warm outside). I'm like the anti-fancy.

I am not fancy. I dress nicely but in a rather plain manner. I am very peculiar but also in a goofy way. This is just on me. I don't think I look right in jeans and a polo. If I have a polo on, it is tucked in. And polos with no pockets, definitely no horizontal stripes, no pockets, no ribbed material. I also don't wear sneakers and jeans. I wear mainly gray, khaki, dark green pants with my polos. If I wear jeans, I usually have on my slip on Timberland boots. Now, I am always up for a hoodie.

Nice dinner out then it’s a sport coat, button down and nice pants - button downs have become the Mizzen+Main Leewards as it hate ironing.

Actually wore a tie and real suit yesterday - that doesn’t happen often but was hired to speak in front of a bunch of private equity types and that is largely a suit crowd
