GPS vs Range Finder

I asked for advice about which to buy gps or range finder and someone said something which I took as disrespectful. So I will stick to how I play now which is old school when it comes to yardages. If I still used old equipment Im not old school I would just a dumba##.

So someone you've never met days something you didn't like and you're not going to use technology....ok

Wait weren't you the one who started the thread asking which one you should buy (that was then merged with this thread).
Yup but sticking to my old ways. You people were no help thanks

I prefer GPS.

I didn't mean to offend, I am just saying if you embrace the technology of todays golf equipment you should, in turn, be able to embrace all legal equipment. But I still feel, for me, the GPS fits my style.

I prefer playing golf the way it use to be played finding yardage and using feel. The new tech stuff is cheating. I will never buy one. #oldschool

I'm very confused by you...lol

I like to keep people guessing you can thank a tebow fan from florida on why I will never use a gps or rangefinder. He told me to aim at grass great advice. Can't wait to try it out.

I personally don't own one, but when I played with Cookie, he had my distances on every shot. He just wouldn't hit the shot I needed to score well...lol

You didn't offend me at all bro your cool. Plus you have a great avatar love that movie

I'm a much better caddie than golfer. Haha

That escalated quickly.

I use the Bushnell Hybrid and love it. It is both a GPS and a Rangefinder all in one. Win win.

He was simply saying that if you were hungover, why not just aim for the middle of the green or fairway. I dont think what he said was disrespectful at all, just replying to what you said about being drunk and hitting from the trees.

Z6 is a great laser.

Neo X is a great watch.

XGC+ is a great standalone GPS.

This was great answer to your question along with about 10 other post. You got numerous answers to your question. You asked and people answered. Next time google 'best range finders' you'll get the same type of responses.

Big difference between being drunk and hungover. Also if I hit it in the next fairway and can't see the green because of a tree I can't shoot the flag with a laser. Northeast golf is much different at least where I play tons of trees. Down south is cake wide open just water to worry about. Lasers great for links golf or very little trees.

I'm thinking if the answer was sufficiently given by multiple people, then this has run it's course

KCCO brother

I'm not sure what KCCO means, but you're welcome?

I really think I play better and faster by having some sort of yardage device. I chose to go with the Hybrid because I wanted the laser but there are times where you don't have the target in sight, so the GPS is very useful as well. The GPS also helps on tee boxes and 2nd shots on par 5s where you simply need an approximate yardage. Hope that helps.

Thank god traffic is moving again....

Sounds like you should go with a GPS.

Also, I live down South, and the courses I play arent wide open. But, that's for another thread.

Glad you have found the info you were searching for.

Well I didn't see that post because other people weren't helpful and was distracted. Also when you google stuff you don't know whos paying google to say they have a great gps or rangefinder. Thought I might ask people that know from experience.

See my post above this. Also, not all courses down south are links courses. I played a couple that has as many trees as a course up here in the Pacific NW.

Im not the most accurate player and sometimes play with a hangover. So the lasers are tough to use when your in the trees and have the shakes. Thanks for the advice so GPS it is I guess

great reviews for bushnell lasers and gps watches all around the webs. You can't go wrong there. A few additional points: GPS is only as good as its inputs. If the mapping was originally poor or if the course has changed, the GPS is useless. Laser never has that problem if you have line of sight. However, bushnell has a good reputation and all the info I've seen are pretty accurate. Personally, I'm pretty lazy and forgetful on the course so lasers tend to go unused. I do like using it at the range though to dial in distances. GPS is glance and go, just my kind of thing.

I really like both the Leupold and Bushnell Lasers.

I picked up a generic laser rangefinder off of ebay earlier this year and it's been working perfectly well for me. When I played in the NE Invitational, the yardages I was getting were +- a yard or so of what someone in my group was getting with his Bushnell. And I picked it up new for less than most used name-brand rangefinders, which was nice.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like the specific model/a link.

I do both.

I have GolfShot on my iPhone for scorekeeping, stats, and hole overviews with such things as doglegs, aerial views, and blind shots.

I recently got a Bushnell V2 about 7 months ago that I use within 200. Three surprising uses that I like: distance to the group ahead to see if we can tee off, range distances to flags, and shooting back to the tee for driving distance.

I really like my Leupold laser rangefinder. Find it very accurate and easy to use. The OLED models are the easiest to read but only the GX-3i model is USGA legal if you need that sort of thing. You can find good prices online if you look hard.

I also use Golfshot GPS on my iPhone because if you can't scope it you need another method. I find Golfshot GPS distances not as reliable as the laser.

I like my Bushnell V2

Actually, all of those responses were posted before the one you took offense to. But, here they are again, just in case you missed them.

Im pretty certain this has run its course. You have your suggestions: take them or leave them, but refusing to do anything because of a misinterpretation only hinders your game.
