Is Brooks Koepka the greatest golfer of this generation? @JDax would approve!

IMG_9940.jpeg

No. sorry. He's good but I wouldn't call him the best of his generation.

Do we have to decide now or wait and see how the next few years shake out?

If we are only looking at Major wins, maybe.

But since 2010, Rory sits a top the Wins leaderboard with 23, followed by DJ at 22. Koepka isnt in the top 10 of wins.

However, there are only 14 golfers EVER to have more Majors than Brooks.

How are we defining "best"?

Give me the majors. Always.

It’s Brooks as of now, professional sports is about winning in the peak of competition and that’s Super Bowls, World Series, and Majors.

Don't bring facts into this conversation!

I'd say Brooks is not the best of his generation, not yet

I will say that the best golfer is the person who has won the most tournaments and money.

Who has won the most money? That person is the best

I don't care if they won major tournaments or not, just won the most money. They are the best

Thea measure of greatness in golf is majors. No one in this generation has more than Brooks. Its gonna look like this:

Jack, Tiger, Brooks, Charlie.

Inbee Park would like a word. 7 majors

I would equate it to the most total wins. Money I don't think plays into it.

If it is about prestige, and winning, it should be about wins, not the dollar signs attached.

Do I have an opinion on who is the best of the generation? No. Give it more time.

If I’m rating these two right now... I’ll put Brooks slightly ahead.

Hmmmm i am not so sure. I get the majors are the measure, but feel like it should be more than just that to be considered the greatest of a generation. Maybe i have a skewed view though.

I have to agree. Majors are all that matter IMO.

I wouldn't agree that Brooks is the best. Up there but not the best.

wouldn't majors dictate "strength of field" calculations?
Majors you are beating the best of the sport.
Regular events you may be beating 8 or 10 or a few more...depending on event.

I cannot be convinced that:

5 Majors and 4 other PGA Tour wins
>
4 Majors, 1 Players, and 19 other PGA Tour wins

Was about to post something along these lines as well.

Those 5 majors are tremendous. He's tied for 15th all time in majors. It's hard not to annoint him at this point in time.

Moving forward, he's 33. I'd say he has about 2 years left to get another 1, if he does that, that puts him tied for 12th all time with Mikcleson, Faldo and Trevino. Then it wouldn't be up for debate if Rory stays at 4.....
