2024 Weight Loss and Nutrition Thread

This type of thing is actually really helpful. I have things written in erasable ink on my bathroom mirror. Seeing your reason / goal every single day makes a difference.
I like having things to look at when pushing through last set or last mile. My true motivation is to make sure I’m on this earth as long as possible. My youngest is finishing his last year of HS baseball. Assuming I have grandkids one day I want to be around to see them play.

Having a 9 year old makes avoiding carbs difficult.

My wife came home with the same massive thing of croissants from Costco today. It is tough!
Stay strong. The loaf of sourdough was a bit tougher for me. My wife made bacon this morning and I came down at 2 starving and wanted a BLT so bad. At this point I don’t want to waste a cheat meal on an afternoon lunch though.

I prepped some buffalo chicken in the crockpot for lunches. I did a wrap yesterday and a salad today, and my "dressing" was just more buffalo sauce with 2TBS of light sour cream.....my face is on fire, so spicy!

Also, I lost 3lbs with my higher calorie intake with my new nutrition coach, and after that she bumped me up another 100 calories so now my calorie goal is 1750, and she still expects I will lose fat based on my workouts/activity level.

She also continues to remind me that the scale is a POS and the number means nothing, it's about losing fat and gaining muscle, we are only using the scale as a guide but the actual number is trash and we have no "goal weight", just a goal body.

I hop on the scale every week or two, only because it's there. I'm three weeks into the new cross-fit gym. Most weeks I go 3x week. Some twice but go to Planet Fitness with my wife. Plus yard work season has kicked in, so push mowing every 5 days. I've really focused on eating protein, cutting out processed foods.
Weighed this morning, the scale hasn't budged. In fact it hasn't been more than 1.5 lbs plus or minus all year, even after a week in Jamaica.

New to this thread. I'm about to turn 57 yrs old, and started my weight loss and fitness journey in earnest last August starting at 240 pounds. I started out really trying to stick to keto but it morphed into more of a low carb and portion size type diet, paired with heavy lifting at the gym 3x per week and walking. My goal is 190 (what I weighed when I finished graduate school in 1991). I'm already at my marriage weight at 200. It has been surprisingly easy, and it's amazing how the golf game improves when I'm stronger and not having to swing around my former gut...

Cheers

This is awesome to hear. I'm 44 and started taking this seriously when I saw a 260 on the scale one day. Really about a year and half ago. Couldn't keep up with my kids and was winded all the time. Lost almost 40 pounds real quick. Mostly diet and moderate exercise The last 20 were a bit harder. Tried keto. Tried intermittent fasting. Tried exercising every day. A few weeks back I saw numbers under 200 for the first time since freshman year of college.

Since then I'm hovering around that 200 mark and seem to be stuck again. Goal is 185 and maintain that. Mostly now is trying to find the right balance of diet and exercise. Kids add another layer with all the activities and not being home much. It's not easy but I kind of enjoy the journey in a weird way.

Y'all are killin' it! Keep it going.

@dutchie went back yesterday. And I'm going to take the interim to lose the weight she made me gain while she was here. Just kidding. No one but me ate the food so it's my fault. And I gain weight when I'm happy. She makes me deliriously happy. So it's gym today. And Wednesday. I'll be hitting the MTB trails this weekend. I've got time. 57 days. Or 58. Or 56. Depends on if I look at it at the check-in date for my flight, when I step onto the plane, or when I get to Europe. Regardless it's motivation. Target goal is 147. I'll be happy at 150 again. Weight this morning was 160. Not bad but not what I want.

No April Fools joke here..

4/1 - 272. Down 18 lbs. Should surpass original goal of 10% (261/29 lbs) next couple of weigh ins. Can’t wait to shirt shop @ Ballyhack w/ @Joshnoble01
5/1 - 267. Down 23 lbs. My math in last month's post was totally off (originally posted 269 goal) and I blame the Syracuse City School District for it. The 10% goal is actually 261 (started 290) so I still have a little more to hit it. Definitely way ahead of pace though. I haven't been under 270 in a long time... plan on being in the 250's by Ballyhack.

My weigh in is Friday. I’ll give an update then. I was 297 last week I believe. But similarly for me I’ll be at all time lows as an adult. I was 290 my senior year of high school football. So I am close to hitting that soon. I think I need to get to 285 to meet our 10% original bet.

Overall I am down about 55 since last August. Lowest I ever got as an adult was about 260-265. I have a good shot to hit that by the fantasy football event in August which would be awesome.

Keep it up all. This thread is inspiring.

I'm still fat this week.
