Ryder Cup Contest - THP & KBS & Official 2012 Ryder Cup Thread [Spoilers]

The full team press conferences are awesome haha.

I think some of the Euro's are already drunk in the presser. They are hilarious hurry up and get this over so they can party.

Is this the Tiger Issues thread or the Ryder Cup thread? Wow. Maybe we should blame the cops for giving Rors an escort - heck, the cops were responsible for that one point that would have turned the entire tournament! That's the ticket!

In a team sport when one of your players doesn't show up with his or her best, the rest of the team has to step up and perform. On Sunday, the US TEAM didn't do it.

Give props were they are deserved: In singles, the Euro Team stepped up, grabbed big Mo and rode that bi**h until the final putt.

We should cheer both sides for a tremendous couple days and be thrilled that such an event will be dropping over $2 million into charities (golf related and otherwise) around the greater Chicagoland area.

I'm looking forward to 2014 already.

Don't worry..in my mind I've already blamed that state trooper.

It's all that bubbly.

Who won the shafts. Congrats!

I'm sure JB and GG haven't picked the winner yet. Probably in the next few days though. All I know is that my picking Europe to jinx them didn't work, LOL...

Sergio is loaded. They're all making fun of the guy from Golf Punks hahahaha.

Dude you go with whats in your pants. LMFAO
Duuuude. ha ha ha

Sergio passing Champaign down the line hahaha.

I've calmed down. I loved that Zach, Duff, and DJ showed up this weekend. Bubba is not a good match play player. At least I cannot remember seeing him excelling in the format. Brandt must have been tired today, at least I hope he didn't have his best stuff.

The fact is, Europe had 4 of the top 5 in the world and 6 of the top 10 (or something pretty close). The top golfers for Europe played great today. They earned it. Rory impressed me. Luke Donald played like a guy who can be #1 in the world.

I just can't help but second guess the captain's picks. 3 out of the 4 really underwhelmed today.

Bubba is not a good match play player. You are right. But frankly none of the US guys are. When you are on a course set up for your style of play and you get hammered like we got hammered today, there is much going wrong at the same time I think. We have always insisted on playing these things the way we want to play them, making few if any concessions to the format. Your comment about the quality of the European player is another accurate observation. We can no longer just rely on the general strength of our team in these things. Either we improve the areas where we are weak or I think we will fail more because they have certainly improved in the areas where they are weak. I cringe to think what is going to happen in two years when we have to play on their turf on a course that they have set up for them.

Personally I don't really think there is a significant difference between the Euros and the Americans "style of play". It was sensationalized for the sake of a better story. Both teams have long knockers, pin hunters, scramblers, and amazing putters...the course did not benefit one team more than the other. The only advantage the Americans had was the home crowd.

My thoughts exactly. The new Cappy will need to find or grow a motivator like Poulter is to the Euro's. I thought Fowler might be that guy but didn't make the team this year. I sure was impressed by his Presidents and previous Ryder cup play though.

I'm actually not that scared. There will be young blood on the team, with President's Cup experience. Hunter should have straightened himself out by then. Stricker and Furyk should be out of consideration. Tiger will be back-er (?).

Makes me happy to think that ZJ, Duff, and DJ aren't going anywhere. With their games, they should be a good backbone with Keegan.

Well I'm out of the contest, but congrats to the Euros and those that picked them, my whole family was glued to the TV all weekend watching any and all coverage we could get. Even my wife and I were watching via our iPhone 5 and the Ryder Cup app while at dinner last night!

I am behind the rest of the world, but holy crap! The Americans just sucked it up big time! You know who should be the most upset men in America? Hunter Mahan and BVP. Sticker played like crap all weekend long and Furyk wasn't much better. Pretty disappointing from those two.

I was on the Bo Van Pelt bandwagon. Dude just played consistent golf all year long and I think he would have been a tremendous asset to this team. Mahan, I wasn't on board with as much. Easy looking at it in hindsight, knowing what we know now.

335 pages? Is this the biggest tourney thread?

Not even close.

Or relieved, Hunter was there last time and hindsight being 20/20 who would want to be on the squad? If I were either I'd be glad I wasn't picked.

Poulter is without question the best match play player in the world. I am not sure if there is anybody that has taken the second spot away but for years I thought Luke was the second best match play player in the world. He might still be for that matter. I think Gmac is a very good match play player but he was one of three guys I thought was just exhausted this week and played very tired golf. Not sure Gmac would have done well this week regardless of format. Sergio is very good match play player. I can't think of a single US player currently on the tour that is as good at match play as those four guys.

That Dufner guy was pretty good this week.

Dufner played well and he really does have the potential to be a very good match play golfer I think. Going for the green from the tee at 15 when you have a lead in match play is inexplicable. That is a desperation move that should be reserved for instances when you are behind in match play and running out of holes. While Dufner did it today with a lead, at least Dufner did it today when he did not have a partner that he could leave hung out to dry. ZJ left Dufner hung out to dry on Saturday afternoon quite possibly providing the impetus that eventually propelled their opponents to a full point win in that match.

Your opponents often make great shots against you in match play because you have left them in a situation where their risk is limited because of a predicament you have put yourself in. The pressure is off and they can play the hole free and easy and may try to make a great shot that they might not even attempt otherwise. Since you win or lose the hole without having to worry about having an impact on a stroke play score, those risk reward elements have to be considered on every hole separately and often on every shot separately. We seem not to have players that do that very well and we seldom have while generally developing far better stroke play golfers.

That Dufner guy was pretty good this week.

One of the Hilites was Dufner's fist pump and trying to get the crowd amped up. That was great I loved watching part hope I see it again soon.
