Official Rant of the Day Thread

I have to rant about all the "experts" and "talking heads" on the Tim Tebow issue. I actually got into a twitter argument with Howard Bryant of ESPN the other night about this. I am sick of hearing the arguments that, 'he can't pass... he's just not good....... etc.'' Well, he's winning with absolutely zero other offensive weapons. His best receiver (who would be a number 3 or 4 WR on any other team) has the dropsies (1 the other night against the Jets)- and this is after management traded his best WR away before his first start. His best RB was a washout in BUFFALO, WHO IS NOW PLAYING WITH A TORN HAMSTRING. And still, all anyone wants to talk about are HIS offensive deficiencies. Last time I checked, he was 4-1 as a starter and the 'experts golden boy' Cam Newton is 2-7. I just love the fact that the experts can't explain how he is winning - how about the fact that he is a great leader and his teammates would do ANYTHING FOR HIM and he for anyone of them. I think this is a super underrated component to winning. Sorry end of rant.

Your not the only one man. I've been saying the same exact thing (minus the Cam Newton part, because i really like him). But the guy knows how to win. That is all that really matters. The analysts look dumber each week because they continue to criticize him. Heck, even Joh Fox criticized him yesterday. He said something like "If we tried to run a normal offense, Tebow would be screwed."

I wish I had explained more with the Cam Newton thing. I like him too. He actually has many of the same intangibles that Tebow has, plus a cannon for an arm. He was just the first example that popped into my head about someone who has all the tools, the 'experts' love, but doesn't have a great record and who has the exact same amount of starts in his career as Tebow. I wish him well and I think he is going to have a great career. Exactly right with the John Fox thing. They guy is trying to take credit. Um, you are changing the offense? Why is Tebow still under center AT ALL THEN?

I like Tim Tebow and think he's a great guy and a great leader, but you can't win in the NFL the way he is playing right now long term. You can't deny that the kid wins, but he flat out cannot throw the ball and misses wide open receivers by miles, and his throwing motion looks slow motion when compared to almost every other QB. I think there is a place for him in the NFL but I really don't think its as a starting QB.

CB - while I respect the questions and points your raise- I have to ask - Why? Why can't you win in the NFL long term without a significant passing attack? Because it hasn't been done in the last 30 years? To me, that stands as an ADVANTAGE. If every other team is a pass first, second, and third team, they have to prepare for you in a totally different defensive scheme than they do for the other 15 games of the year. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I just feel like nearly every single NFL related person wants this guy to fail for some reason or another- except for the other guys in that locker room with him.

Oh I think you can win with a run first, second and third approach, but I think once NFL defences get a bunch of tape on what Tebow and the Bronco's are doing, you will have to be able to pass a little bit. To me if he was even a little bit of a better passer I think it could be successful, but he was throwing some quick bubble screens, that were not coming even close to the target, and if you force him to roll right he just can't throw the ball.

Like I said, I really want him to do well, but if you look at the upcoming schedual for the Bronco's they have some real tests and I think it might go very very poorly for Tebow and the bronco's.

The really interesting thing about how he has played in the 5 games he has started, is that he has played so poorly that all the Tebow doubters can say, "See? This guy is terrible! 2-8 and a passer rating of 8." and they are totally right. At the same time, when the chips are down and the game is on the line, the kid simply wins, and the Tebow supporters can say " The kid just wins!" and they're right too. Really interesting to be honest.

I just really doubt that you can win in the NFL long term with the way that he plays, but I hope he proves me wrong.

I don't like Tebow that much. He won't win a ton in the long term like CB said. One of the biggest reasons they're winning now? The other players believe in him. When they lose a few, it will go downhill.

You guys know we have an NFL thread don't you?

Great points - If you read Bill Simmons on grantland.com - he wrote a really good quick piece on the exact topic we are discussing. I agree too that it is compelling television to say the least haha.

I'll go read it now.

I'm tired of Tim Tebow already. You know who's good. Michael Vick.

He's tough too! Not Antonio tough, but tough nonetheless. Tebow just doesn't have that bruising style that I like my QB's to have

He's no Bobby Douglas.

No one is. I mean married to a playboy model and arrested for trespassing.

Yes I had to look him up on Wiki

I hate when golf season ends because then on Saturday's my wife wants to do things around the house. Not my kind of gig. "Get those golf clubs out of here." "Can you pick up a little bit?" "Why don't you start some laundry?"

Leave me alone. I'm comfortable with disarray.

I think you would make a fabulous QB Chunky. Like Tebow crossed with Manning.

Ole Gray's lucky. I don't say anything since he does most of the housework. :D

I hear you man, my golf season doesn't end, but it has days like today where the course is closed due to frost. All of a sudden I'm being asked to go to the craft store with my wife. That doesn't sound like something I want to do .

I'm on a bus for the next 4 hours... Fun.

I think I would too. I would of course have to do the Tebow jump pass as I won't be able to see over that Oline. I would run like a crazed ferret out there!

LMAO, I tried to give you rep for that line but I have to spread it around.

I stand outside and smoke cigarettes. I can't deal with the smell of potpourri.

I don't smoke anymore, but I could get a porn mag or something.
