What's a good overall golf ball for a high handicap player?

    Hello,

New to the forum and am currently looking for a good ball to play. I'm a 25+ handicapper and try to play at least once a month. I've been playing for about 7 years now and never really taken my golf ball seriously. Just always been a casual duffer, and played with whatever ball was on sale or used balls off ebay. I really want to get more serious about my game this year. I'm rebuilding my bag right now (haven't updated it in about 5 years) and want to find a ball to start using and stick with. So I'm guessing I need a ball that is good for my swing speed mid to high 90's (last I checked). I'm thinking something soft with good compression right? What do you guys suggest? Thanks and I'm happy to have found this forum.

For a decently priced ball I like the Top Flite Gamer V2 or Bridgestone e6.

Q-star is a great ball for everyone though. Just a really good ball.

Srixon Tri-Speed or maybe Q Star (as previously mentioned). Another option could be the new Titleist Velocity, because if I am not mistaken it is engineered for the specific purpose you appear to be looking? It's new to Titleist this year.

All those mid range balls are awesome.

The Srixon Q Star or AD 333, the bridgestone e series... Also worth checking out last years TaylorMade Burner/burner tour balls.. I'd play the burner tour in a heartbeat.

Bridgestone e Series. Go through a B Fit session and see what it suggests. Those balls are in the $25 range and are a quality mid range ball. If you want something a little cheaper, I'd go with the Top Flight Gamer.

I really like the Srixon AD333. Cheap, solid around the green, just a reliable ball for me.

Wow! Thanks for all the quick and great responses. I used the Bridgestone site and it recommended the E6 ball. I've also used Srixon in the past and liked it, so I'll also try out the Q-Star since so many of you are high on it. Hopefully I can get out on the course in the next few weeks once my new clubs are delivered. I will give you guys a update when I do. Thanks.

I know I am a little late, but I personally love the Titleist NXT tour. Especially the new version of them (came out this year) truly competes against any other ball out there.

Thanks. Definitely not too late. Would love to hear anyone's opinions on this subject. I'm sure i will end up trying a few brands until I get the results I'm looking for. Thanks.
