What shaft do I need?

This question is for my golfing partner. He was just fitted for a r11 and his swing speed was in the 120's, so they told him extra stiff shafts in the tp version. He is wondering what shafts he needs in his irons? He has s300's in his clubs now He was looking at project x replacement

With that swing speed on his driver he is right in my territory and I game the x100 shafts in my irons. However, it can slightly depend on his ball flight and tendencies. Most likely though x100 DG's are the answer. I think equilivant for Project X is the 6.5 or higher.

That's in my neighborhood as well. I was fit for the KBS 130's. It takes about 5 minutes, but if he could find a place that does the Mizuno shaft optimizer, it would give him several options based on tempo, swing speed and other variables. It's a really great fitting instrument.

There is more than swing speed that goes in choosing shaft flex, such as how a golfer loads the shaft, his transition, etc.
