@CrashTestDummy's* thread on PGA Tour player versus a scratch golfer's stats got me thinking. For example, I'm currently a 16.5 HI, and over the past two seasons have averaged 29.6 putts per round. That said, I don't hit a lot of greens, but do get up and down a lot (around 60% of the time).** If I didn't have a decent short game my HI would be much higher. The point being, anyone can have a good short game, regardless of age or athleticism (I'm 68). So, in my opinion, if a golfer wants to lower his scores, spending time on developing a good short game would go a long way to achieving that goal.

**Tour pro averages 64%, a scratch averages 55%, a 16HI averages 22%
