The "fifth Beatle" died this morning. As important as any actual member to their success.

Sad to see the legends start to fade away.

Lot of Game of Thrones fans will probably read this headline and get a bit freaked.

Which is pretty sad in itself.

I looked quickly and thought it said Steve Martin.
The behind the scenes man with the Beetles, what a career he had. RIP.

At my age this is sad! Hope he had a great life!

Though not a fan of Beatles in general, I respect what they did for music and the industry. He was a part of that, without a doubt. RIP.

What a grand view he had of Beatlemania ... he definitely help change the face of music for that era, especially with his studio genius.

This. You watch the documentaries and even egomaniacs like Lennon admit Martin was the genius of the entire operation.

Can't imagine what it was like trying to contain personalities like Lennon and McCartney while still having amazing studio ability.

As much as George Martin was thought of as the 5th Beatle, which he was.
He did so much to push the engineering end of it. From 4-8-16 tracks. Lots of creative bouncing down.
Sgt. Pepper was the answer to Pet Sounds (Beach Boys).
Golf, Recording & Guitars are my addictions...
Listening to those recordings taught me a lot.
Today with digital workstations almost anything is possible.
Back in that day... your mind played a much bigger part in the final product.
