Headed to The Desert shortly after the New Year with a small group and trying to determine where to play for 3-4 days. If anyone has a Hideaway hookup I’m all ears

I am thinking PGA Dye Mountain, Escena, Silverrock. But generally have no clue what should be played. Personally the Stadium course doesn’t really appeal to me but I may be wrong. Would like a few premium courses and a few more reasonably priced as well. So what does everyone suggest?

Silverrock is real good - a fun design and play;
Indian wells Celebrity is a great course imo - just fun, pretty and enjoyable - I always leave happy
Firecliff is another good option
Not a fan of Dye - so I hate most of his courses, but the Mtn is ok - I think Stadium sucks - the other La Quinta courses are better imo.
Escena is a good track
Classic Club is decent - gets really windy in the afternoon and not fun;

We played about 5 courses when my wife and I were down there about 6-7 years ago including the stadium course . Our favourite course was Silverrock. The others we played were fine albeit expensive even going through GolfNow but most memorable was SR.

SilverRock was the only course I've ever played out there, but it was a nice track. I played it in the Summer, and with the UnderPar website, it was cheap.

Appreciate the input folks. We are looking at playing Escena, SilverRock, IW Celebrity and either Firecliff or Mountain View. Gonna be one course per day and I'm thinking that will be a heck of a four days.

Timely thread, as I’m headed out to Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage for Thanksgiving.

My home club is a part of ClubCorp, so looking at a few of those right now. I’m thinking I am only going to get to play twice likely, so right now I am looking at Mission Hills and Indian Wells.
Mission Hills- Arnie course, because it’s Arnie.
Indian Wells- the pictures at the Cove course look amazing.

SilverRock looks fantastic now as well, so starting to think these through a bit more.

A few years ago my guys trip went to Palm Springs. We played the PGA West Mountain and Stadium and SilverRock. We were supposed to play the Nicklaus course but someone in the maintenance crew really screwed up. They used a spray vehicle that had previously had grass killer in it and didn't rinse it properly and essentially killed all the greens on that course. They didn't let us know that the course was closed until the day before we were supposed to play. :mad:

SilverRock was my favorite. Watch out for the attack big horn sheep ! :ROFLMAO:

Headed to Palm Spring on November 4th for 8 days. It's been two years since I was there last and at that time I played Tahquitz and Indian Wells Celebrity and one other that I can't even remember the name of. Indian Wells Celebrity is a fun course. Tahquitz was just ok.

Thanks for the info... definitely will try SilveRock since it gets mentioned multiple times.

I live out there for 8 years and played many of the courses there. What kind are you looking for and is price any issue?

Desert Willow (Firecliff) was always in great shape. If you can get in the Indian Wells course - my fav was the Mountain Course (super cool hitting into the sidesof the mountains), Mission Hills was always a fun track, I always enjoyed Terra Lago, if you can find a hook up - the Nicklaus Private Course at PGA West is unbelievable, and Marriott Shadow Ridge was always in good shape and fun.

Since I will be golfing by myself, is it necessary to book a tee time or just show up and see if they can fit me in?

Always book a tee time out there during this time of year. It’s their busiest time - don’t be surprised with 5 hour rounds. Seriously - it’s nuts out there during that time. Make a tee time and then see if they can squeeze you in earlier…. Call first then go online. Always worked the best for me.

A couple places you can check for deals out there are golfmoose and underpar.

Just checked, underpar has several deals going in the Palm Springs area. Westin Mission Hills 2 golfers for $269.

I travel to the Palm springs area often.
If you can get on, the Dinah Shore at Mission Hills is by far the best one there. And the one I almost always play that flies under the radar is Eagle Falls. Part of the Fantasy Springs casino complex. Nice piece of property, no housing, well kept. Usually about $95. Nice track.
Desert Dunes on the cheap. I like the track layout. Can get windy on the 10, but kinda random. I've played it many times and not had issues.
Last time I played Classic, was really disappointed on course conditions. Troon courses are usually very nice, it was not.
Underpar did let me play as a single twice on the S course with a 2 fer purchase.
I'll be out there end of Dec if any want to hook up .

Trip got abbreviated to three days, but we are playing IW Celebrity, Desert Willow Mountainview and SilverRock.

Booked a really nice house right on the fairway of PGA West Nicklaus course. Haven't had a golf trip in too long and I am looking forward to it!

Those are three good choices, have fun

in the process of researching which tracks I want to play in May. Most days I will play modestly priced tracks but one day I might go for a spendy one. If there are people who will be in the area the 14th to 21st and are looking for a playing partner let me know. For most part hoping to play new tracks..loved Firecliff, I actually really like Tahquitz and Escena but played them before. SilverRock is gaining a lot of traction...

Incredible few days of golf here in the valley. Played Desert Willow Firecliff, Indian Wells Celebrity and Silverrock. Enjoyed them all, but particularly liked Silverrock. There is a lot of construction around the course, but the setting up against the mountains is just stunning. Drove past the Hideaway & the Nest, wished I was at one, but not the other!
