somehow i am getting the club super laid off in my back swing . what drills do you recommend that could help me ingrain the feel of a proper position at the top ?

That often starts at setup and very early in the backswing.

Grip check- a lot of players I see come in with laid off clubs at the top have a weak to very weak right hand. Make sure that V (crease between thumb and index finger) of the right hand points right shoulder-ish.

First move off the ball- feel like the sternum and clubhead move back at exactly the same pace for the first few feet of the backswing. A lot of laid off backswings I see come from more arm swing as it relates to shoulder turn. Keep those connected!

Hope that helps,

This is very good advice and exactly what I was doing. I was rolling the club head back and open to start the swing with a super weak grip. Changing both of these two things has made a huge difference for me the last few weeks.

I started doing this takeaway last week (keep clubhead & sternum at same pace to start).... really makes a difference... thanks GolfTEC. :golf:
