For sure that putter wasn't given much love. Bettinardi does refurbish putters for people, think it depends on the putter and what they have to do to refinish it for the cost.
Were they putting on asphalt?

I had Bett put in a new single bend tour shaft as I want to go from 34 to 35 inches and they bent the lie angle - it took a day for them to do that work.
But a refinish -- I think you are talking a couple of months and $200 or more - get their work order form
