I just got a new black widdow putter grip and I am thinking of doing it myself. I have read that double sided masking tape and lighter fluid gets the job done. Is this a reasonable way to go or should i just pay someone to do it for me?

I personally would never use lighter fluid

I use denatured alcohol .... takes awhile for it to dry but does a good job

I use paint thinner/ mineral spirits works great.

Thanks guys. I just finished that is really easy. No need to ever pay someone to re grip a club again.

I used to work in a pro shop, and, despite one visit to an emergency room after slicing my finger open, I think I can regrip my clubs as quickly and effectively as anyone else can.

BUT, PGA tour superstore will do it for $1 per grip while you shop. Sometimes they have deals where the service is free. For $13, I will gladly let someone else do the work.

Teach a man to fish and all that ... Glad to hear it went smooth.

Pro tip: regrip at night and light the wet club on fire while swinging it in the front yard. It dries faster and the neighbors love it.

When I was a lot younger and we were using leather grips on everything, lighter fluid is all we used. It will do the job if that is all you have on hand.
