So I just received my voucher from Amex that I can use on a Delta flight. Im thinking of going somewhere warm next Feb/Mar when I normally have cabin fever here in Ohio.

So I wanted to get some suggestions for good places to fly to to do some golfing. Im going to Orlando in Sept, so Id prefer to not end up there again, and I wouldnt mind staying at a resort that had 36 or 54 holes so I wouldnt even have to leave?

Any suggestions? Looking for something "reasonably" priced

thanks

Anywhere near Myrtle Beach. So much golf, so little time.

Well, what is reasonably priced? We are looking at Harbor Town for my Senior trip.

well, Ive been to Hilton head a few times already and played most of the courses down there, excluding Harbor town

Ive also been to Myrtle beach about 10 times and played most of those too, so trying to get somewhere new....sorry I didnt mention those earlier

Kinda off topic, but how did you like hilton head?

I'll just go ahead and say it....

PGA national is a hell of a resort and has 4 BEAUTIFUL courses on site, and a 5th off site. Great amenities, great service.

went down the past 2 years, I look at it as a much cleaner version of Myrtle Beach, with less courses

Havent played a bad course there, and we went in Sept, so it was HOT, but golf prices were dirt cheap

yeah I saw the post that was out there with the cheap deal they were offering, and of COURSE it was 2 days after I paid for my room in Orlando in sept lol

You could do Pinehurst 1, 3, and 5 for $241/night per person in March.

I'm biased, but PGA National is awesome.

I agree with Palm Springs but it can be pricey that time of year, have you thought about Arizona? I know you said you wanted warm and reasonably priced, but Pebble Beach runs specials that time of year and often the weather isn't bad.

Why don't you save it for next year's outing? It'll take the sting out of having to pay for airfare to an experience that is truly incredible.

Just went to down to Gulfport, MS this past February and loved it. Reasonably priced too- spent an entire week down there, played 4 rounds of golf, and total expenses (travel, lodging, car rental, etc.) were only about $1400.

Not as 'touristy' as Orlando, Myrtle Beach, etc, but has beaches, casinos, waterparks, historical attractions, golf courses...and none of them were crowded.

The people down there are world-class. GPT is a nice, small airport- easy to get in and out of, and Delta does fly in and out of there.

Here's some links to for you if interested:

Will the outing be in Orlando again? I thought about that, but I'll be there in September and not sure if I want the next trip to be right back there....but then again its always a option

This outing and the last one were both in WPB and not Orlando. I would be willing to guess the chances of the next major outing being at PGA National again is pretty high.

Phoenix. We go every year via www.condoresorts.com and stay for 4 days and play 36 every day. We usually get a 2 bedroom condo they have in Scottsdale and play 4 different courses. Ends up being about $150-$200 night with golf included depending on the courses we select to play. It will be warmer than OH at that time of year, but not in the 80-90s yet. We also do a San Diego trip every year at the end of baseball season and catch the last home game stand for the Padres and play 2-3 courses while there.

yeah I want to get out there someday, when we were looking for a place to go this year, that was our preference, but it just didnt work out, but might be worth a shot next year

If you don't already have one, get an Entertainment Book. Used it to book hotel and car rental and saved about $600+ (got hotel 50% off).

I have the Youngstown edition, but the Cincinnati edition looks to have plenty of good coupons for golf as well:

We have not had an outing in Orlando as of yet. It is certainly an option, but I would venture to say that when we pick a resort, we will be looking at some different options whether it is PGA National again or someplace different.

A THP Golf Outing is unlike anything you can think of golf outing wise. The forum members make it a truly special thing that GG and I are just honored to plan.

My apologies, Im not sure what made me think it was on Orlando

Would it potentially be the same time of year next year?

Wish I could make this year's just no way

A number of good choices have been thrown out there, Palm springs is a pretty expensive with not too many packages available. Phoenix is a good choice with an abundance of price choices and still good golf.
I think Vegas is a possible choice also. Prices on the high end courses are down and even the 2nd tier courses are quite nice. Packages are available, or book into a lessor expensive casino and use THP, golfnow, to book your rounds.

yeah, I may end up holding off and making sure I can make it to the THP outing next year, its close enough to the beginning of the year, I think my wife would be happy enough
