Titleist Seeks Preliminary Injunction Against Taylormade-adidas Golf

It was THP that broke that story. Reporting truthful news is never a bad thing.

I know, it was said in good humor. Wouldnt want to get you guys in trouble.

I feel for Titleist here. I mean, for a player to come out with another company and say, "hey, I'm going to play with their stuff next time" is a real slap in the face for Titleist. A common interpretation would be that Titleist equipment was not good enough, and so Camilio went to a better company. At least wait until between seasons to announce something like that.

On the otherhand, good move by TM. They are giving the perception that Titleist is an inferior golf company for professional golfers. To snatch a caliber player like Camilio in mid-season says something...

How do we know that there isn't a clause in his contract that prohibits him from talking to another company while he's under contract to Acushnet? Football players and coaches aren't allowed to talk with other teams without asking permission from their current employer, nor is another team allowed to approach a player without prior arrangement. There could be more to this than a simple press leak.

One thing to remember though is that "HE" has not said anything. TM did, THP did, and other media outlets, but not Camilo.

you know how titleist has those bumper stickers that says "i'd rather be driving a titleist"? i want one that says "i'd rather be switching to taylormade"

fourputt's right though, i feel as though they would only pursue this route if there was some sort of contractual breach.

That was union bargained and golfers are 1099 employees. They are free to look for other employment. They cannot speak about it in most cases per their contract. And Camilo has not said a word.

There is no doubt they have a case in regards to TM speaking about the matter potentially, but this has nothing to do with Camilo and everything to do with TM.

Ah, good point. So TM really did come out and slap Titleist with the open palm...

Lol, poor Camilo to get stuck in the middle of all this! I'm sure a vacation on an expensive yacht in the bahamas will help him feel better.

Somebody call the waaaaaaambulance :crying:

That is absolutely hilarious TC!! LMAO

I'm not a Titleist fan. Never have been, it's been sadi that they are fairly elitist when it comes to golfers and I agree completely with that. I am sick and tired of those dang commercials. However it does seem that TM may be in the wrong hear. From a legal perspective anyway. Bad news for Titleist is that they come across bitter here, so I agree that TM will come up roses here regardless if they loose a lawsuit or not.

I think your thoughts are echoed by millions of people based on the emails we are getting.

Great minds think alike!! :D

It will still be interesting to see how this all plays out. There is definitely something going on here behind the scenes. I guess we'll just have to sit back and watch it unfold.

You mean the Titleist/Bridgestone feud over ball patents that spilled out into the open a few years ago before Titleist was ready?

Very well said. Count me as one that has never been a fan and dont see myself ever being one either. HATE their commercials too. Every other one is a stupid Titleist ball commercial.

and the ones in between are either FloMax or Cialis...ask your doctor what's right for you

I'd rather watch Titleist Ball commercials.....

Who knows?? Maybe there is??

And then you can sprinkle in TM bragging about being the #1 driver in golf. More wins then everyone else COMBINED. I hear them in my head right now. That about sums up the golf commercials.

Now it's Callaway being the number 1 IRONS in Golf too. 13 years in a row now I believe?? Hehe

That's why the commercials for the Oven are the best. They mix it up a bit.

haha yeah there's that one or what I like to call Callways answer to TM's commercial. I love when big companies fight, its so entertaining. But the Nike one with the ball picker uper gone out of control is getting old now. They need something new. But I agree, at least theyre trying to be funny.

Cmon guys dont forget that harness thing they are selling that looks like what Gray Golf has been talking about wearing at PGA National.

hahahahahahahaahaha now thats funny!! How could we forget ol' grays Cobra harness thing!!

Does anybody feel that the last "issue" with court cases hurt the Titleist brand in the eyes of public opinion? Will this?

Probably not. Titleist has fierce, blind loyalty that has been carried through generations and will be passed down to other generations.

I definitely think it will.
