I love that movie too. My mom, wife, and sister all hate it.
I think all women hate it. I know I do.

But why? My wife will watch it maybe once, she just doesn't understand why I will watch it multiple times in a day. (I'm not totally focused on it though, it just is playing in the background.)
I never knew that, it's my favorite Christmas movie of all time. Drives my wife crazy on Christmas Eve because I'll just turn it on and let it play all day.
Guns, bullies - what's to like?
Not to mention bloody tongues, pornography, attacking packs of wild dogs, the destruction of trees, the F bomb, and the perpetuation of stereotypes about women and the Chinese. The scene in the restaurant at the end is so offensive I'm surprised the Chinese government hasn't called our notes.
Kevin
The Chinese didn't yet own us when the movie was made. Perhaps they take that into consideration.
That's possible, but ingrained in me is the stereotype that the Chinese have long memories. You're right though, the Japanese owned this country when that movie was made. I'm glad that last scene wasn't in a sushi joint.
Kevin
I think you're confused. It's elephants who have long memories.
How have I never even heard of this movie?
Oh, that's right. Never mind.
Come on, Claire. A Christmas Story? Ralphie, the Daisy Red Ryder BB gun, the Bumpus hounds? On all day on Christmas on TBS? Certainly one of the best Christmas movies ever made. If you haven't seen it, you need to watch it with your kids. It's a charmer.
Kevin
Honestly, no. But apparently I ought to.
On a related note, I loathe that one with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed.
