YOUR Top Five Guitarists

John Petrucci
David Gilmour
Joe Satriani
Buckethead
John Petrucci again due to his awesomeness

Eddie Van Halen as well.

Eric Clapton- Love his Blues Breakers stuff
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Jimmy Page
Eddie Van Halen
Page Hamilton- Lead and wrote music, lyrics and vocals for Helmet - great alt metal band

Top Five? Yikes, that is tough.

Dudes I've seen in person (in no particular order)
Carlos Santana
Eric Clapton
Tom Morello
BB King
Buddy Guy
The Edge

Dudes I Haven't:
Jimi
Bo Diddley
Chuck Berry
Joe Satriani
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Jimmy Page

Guy who shocked me at how good he really is:
John Mayer - I saw the John Mayer Trio, his blues outfit in Vegas. Given how much his pop music bothers me, the JM3 stuff live is phenomenal. (Not to mention how often he comes off as a less-than-likable fellow.)

I might throw in Dick Dale. And Prince has thrown down a great lick or two in his time. And the guy from Queen, Brian May. This could go on and on and on ...

I'm a huge music fan and especially when it comes to guitarists.

I will try to do this in order...

1. Eric Clapton
2. Jimi Hendrix
3. Stevie Ray Vaughan
4. John Mayer (Covered in Rain made me pick up the guitar)
5. Gary Clark Jr. (Favorite new artist)

That order really does change about everyday. Albert King, Freddie King, and BB King are also in that rotating list.

EDIT: How the F did I forget DEREK TRUCKS!!! WOW, it's way to hard to do this.

John Mayer is really an amazing guitarist. Its just too bad he makes god awful music. (IMO)

Wow, cant believe somebody else thinks Mark Kendall belongs here. Great player. Norum has done a lot of good work, both with Europe and Dokken, post Lynch, who is also awesome. Van Halen and Frehley could round out my 80's guys list.

Mark is a great player and a great guy, Eddie is awesome as well, but I prefer his older stuff lol, Frehly? well, he wrote the book..

My favourite 5 are:-

Brian May
David Gilmour
Eric Clapton
Gary Moore
Jimmy Paige

Can't believe I didn't voice an opinion on this. My top 5 in no particular order:

BB King
Eric Clapton
James Hetfield
Jimi Hendricks
Brad Paisley

Eddie Van Halen
Ace Frehley
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Billy Gibbons
Richie Sambora

In no particular order

If I can only pick five. I'd have to say:

Jimi Hendrix
Joe Satriani
David Gilmour
Randy Rhodes
Eddie Van Halen

It is tough to choose though because there are so many more great ones

I had to wait until this last page before someone mentioned Gary Moore....he tended to fly under the radar, but he played flawlessly! He and B.B. King were absolutely wonderful on their duo version of Thrill Is Gone.....

FIFY, Gary is dead
