1. Guaranteed to finish 3rd thru 30th for your entire career but never get a win?

Or

2. Take your chances at a win, but you determine how you finish? You could miss the cut or even lose your card.

It's all about winning, just ask Charlie Sheen.

I'd do what most of the guys out there are going for right now, and that is option #1. Helluva nice living not winning and playing golf for your money nowadays.

Number 1. Definitely.

Number 1. Definitely.

Me as well.

I'm a hellacious competitor and all but to guarantee you and yours a nice life compared to risking it all, easy choice for me.

Number two - I'm kinda all or nothing, though I understand why people would pick number 1

I've thought about this several times over the years. It hard to say, my head tells me that job security is good. Chances are with high finishes you would play in a Ryder cup or presidents cup. You would travel the world and make more cash than you could spend.
On the other hand, you could win once and be gone two years later. Or That win could translate into a long prosperous career. Hmmmmm
I think I would have to o with the win and holding my fate in my hands.

Tin cup baby, I'm going for #2 all day long. I've never had a pot to piss in from the get go so I may as well go for it and try to create one of the greatest memories of my life, win or lose.

Damn right. 'Another ball..."

Option 1 I like guarantees in life. I might feel incomplete without a win but at least I'll have a career.

I´d go with option one and laugh all the way to the bank. The family would have some serious vacations!!

If I took #1 I would always regret it in the end.

#2 I would want the win.

1st choice all the way...

i'm with the majority here. give me third through thirty everyday, it's a cozy life....unless of course that means I'd never qualify for the masters. I'd mortgage my future (in this scenerio) to play in the masters at least once.

Yeah, as much as I would love to win, I absolutely adore the idea of being a touring professional. How incredible would that be, getting to play the sport I love and getting paid for it (3-30 is GREAT money)..

Man, where do I sign?

Those guys don't have a guarantee so this scenario is not realistic.

This has happened to a local guy, he won a PGA event and was named the PGA rookie of the year in 2000 but it never was as good again. I don't know if the final chapter of his story is written yet.

Gotta go for the win!! Would be nice to never have to worry, but it's nicer to have the W

I'd have to say option one although it's tough.. I'd love the job security though

Tap tap taparoo

Options number 2! That's what makes the greats become great, that all encompassing need to win! Whenever the announcers talk about who the best player without a win is they are just talking about the best loser.

Option #1.
This is the difference between a guy who owns the casino, and the guy who thinks he is gonna break the bank with a hundred dollar bill.

Just finish Top 4 in the PGA and you're set! And if you are 3-30 every week, you are also likely Top 50 in the world and/or top 30 on the money list. If you finish in the top 30 of every tournament, you're going to qualify for the Tour Championship every year too. All of these get you into The Masters! Yippee.

Option 2. The first option would make me depressed later on in life.
