Woodworking / Furniture Building

I just got a steal on a 10 year old 12” jointer. A high end custom furniture shop by me jigs upgraded so I bought this aircraft carrier for $1,500.

So I'm looking to use this space under the coffee bar and my thought is to make a pull out drawer type thing to put the garbage and recycling cans on it. I picked up roller coasters and plywood to use as the base and the cabinet front, but making the front stable is something I'm trying to figure out. Obviously it can't be just screwed into the bottom base, but I don't know if I need to make a frame all the way front to back

Yeah I can't draw for 💩 but any ideas or suggestions are appreciated

Actually maybe just something like this would work but using wood for the panel attachment? Kind of like my first image, and that was I can add a trim border in the inside of the cabinet for it to 'seal'

Actually, think I may just try a couple of these corner braces

Just have to sand and paint and attach a pull handle

It only took 5 movers, removal of the 5hp motor and fence and the 12” jointer is up the stairs and in my shop! It purrs!

I glued the scraps up about 18 months ago and I finally finished it. It isn’t anything fancy but I need a good cutting board for brisket.034CBB43-5357-4194-A485-3A4E7FDCB5F1.jpeg

This is What a Sawstop dado cartridge looks like after you trip the break.B04E1DA6-8D47-4CA5-896C-F1D05F6EC848.jpeg

Glad to see it worked! That tech is pretty incredible. Regardless of what the cartridge costs to replace, it’s functionality is priceless.
I hit my aluminum mitre gauge. But since I was touching it, the brake tripped since I was grounded. There was not even a nick in the gauge. In a way, it confirmed that the technology is amazing!

That’s wild. I admit that I’ve never dug into how it actually works!

No doubt that it has to be a bit comforting seeing it work first hand. I know I always have a bit of doubt regardless of how many videos you see

How badly did your dado blade fare? I guess I am fortunate to have never tripped a cartridge but I'm sure my time will come
A few broken teeth. I’m sending it off to Forrest to get fixed.

I have finally got around to building my workbench. I still need to finish it. I’m so happy I went with these vises.

my new workbench is complete. It is so nice after all these years to have a proper workbench that does not wobble, is at a comfortable height and has two vises.

I was like yourself, never looked into the tech of it. Katz-Moses has an awesome video I'll link that shows how it works. It is truly amazing!

What size floor joists/spacing do you have up there? If they are room-in-attic trusses, what's the bottom cord size/spacing? I have a good idea how much those saws/joiners weigh.
The trusses were designed to handle the loads. My house is 100% custom and we engineered the 2nd floor above the garage to easily support 600+ lb tools with no issue.

Gotta ask, @wubears71 is woodworking part of your income? Or just a hobby. I'm very envious of your setup!
100% hobby. I had done a few commissioned pieces over the years, but it took the fun out of it so I do it strictly for fun and relaxation. If someone wants me to build them something my condition is that it gets done on my timeline and you make a donation to charity.
I’ve been “collecting” tools now for 28 years.

I finally finished the wood floor installation - 3/4” solid hickory. Now I need to decide if I sand it and put a finish on it or just keep it rough.

That looks awesome. Question, what is the purpose of the middle of the workbench that (looks like) slides out?
That’s actually a very old bench - one i built 15+ years ago. Its what I use for doing dirty stuff like lawn mower sharpening, and other non-woodworking stuff. It pretty much collects junk. I am going to build a new base for it - the top weighs about 300 lbs so it’s great for non-delicate work.
