Golf Weekends - What's Your Preference?

My other favorite game is Las Vegas Shootout (http://golf.about.com/od/golfterms/g/bldef_lasvegas.htm) - it can get really interesting but only works well with evenly matched players. Point swings can be huge on a single hole, we learned the hard way the first time we played and decided to wager $1 per point, so now we usually just do a quarter per point. Give it a try!

Lots of great information here guys thank you

Has anyone ever attempted "poker" golf (there is an event http://worldseriesofgolf.com/) where you wager after each shot and "fold" by picking up your ball?

I have always wanted to try it at one of our guys outings, but never got any buy in from other people.

I love playing for something on the line, but we never get too out of control with money since my group has such a wide variety of players. My favorite game to play with a large group is have each foursome pony up $20-$40, each group gets a "special ball" that has to be played on every hole, with each team member taking turns throughout the round - if you lose the ball you're team is out. The team with the lowest score with their special ball gets the pot, but fortunately everyone usually gets their money back b/c no team can go an entire round without losing it! (It's only happened once).

We do that with a pink ball and it's called "Pink Lady", if everyone loses it the team who kept it the longest get the prize, two teams lose it on the same hole they split the pot, if more than one team keeps for entire round team with lowest gross for the Pink Lady wins, money never goes back someone always wins (no kissing your sister so to speak). Which brings some strategy into it. Do you play safe with irons off the tee and have a higher pink lady score or do you go for it and risk losing her...

Its hard getting a friend or two to play on a weekend day, let alone a whole weekend outing! One day I'd like to though
